Residential Electrical Planning Tool

Home Electrical Material Estimator

Estimate residential cable planning categories, circuit groups, floor sub-panels, DIN module ranges and protection topics to discuss with a qualified electrician.

Draft: June 15, 2026 Planning reference

Quick Answer

Estimate material planning quantities — not final electrical design.

Use this estimator for early homeowner, landlord or renovation discussions. It groups cable lengths and circuit counts into planning categories only. Final cable type, breaker rating, protection devices, fire behavior, installation method and compliance must be verified by a qualified electrician.

Calculator Inputs

Residential material setup

Enter a practical residential planning scope. This tool estimates rough material categories and electrician discussion points. It does not select final cable types, protection devices or compliant installation details.

Electrician discussion warnings

    Planning category only

This result does not select final cable type, cable size, breaker/fuse rating, RCD/RCBO/SPD configuration, CPR fire class, LSZH/halogen-free requirement, functional-integrity rating, conduit/tray system or compliance result. Final design must be verified by a qualified electrician.

    Method

    How this estimator works

The estimator combines room defaults, floor/sub-panel distances, special loads and optional planning-list rows. It groups lengths into planning categories such as lighting/shutter, socket/small-load, high-load and feeder/backbone lengths.

Material estimate = route quantities × planning category × reserve percentage

    Safety

    Cable type depends on environment

Bathrooms, outdoor routes, garages, telecom rooms, escape routes, factories and fire-safety systems can require different cable, routing, fire behavior, protection and documentation decisions.

    Exclusions

    What this does not include

No drilling labor, wall chasing, plastering, painting, tile repair, utility/meter-side work, grounding redesign, final load calculation, inspection pricing or final compliance design is included.

    FAQ

    Residential electrical planning notes

Can this calculator choose the correct cable?

No. It only groups estimated lengths into planning categories. Final cable type depends on load, installation method, route length, grouping, ambient temperature, mechanical protection, moisture, UV exposure, fire behavior, EMC environment and local rules.

    Why are there environment warnings?

A normal bedroom, bathroom, outdoor garden route, telecom room, escape corridor and factory area can require very different cable systems and protection concepts. This calculator flags topics for discussion only.

Can I use this as a shopping list?

Use it as a rough discussion starter. Before buying or installing material, have the quantities and categories checked by a qualified electrician.

    Project

Need help turning this estimate into a real project scope?

ITCOREOPS can support infrastructure planning, technical rooms, rack power, structured cabling, documentation and practical implementation coordination.

    Disclaimer

    Planning estimate only

This residential estimator is for early material planning only. It does not replace qualified electrical design, German/DACH/EU rule review, cable sizing, protection-device selection, inspection, testing, commissioning or local professional approval.

    Workflow

Use this before the first electrician discussion.

Prepare a practical list of rooms, circuits, special loads, sub-panels and environment warnings before asking for a professional design or quotation.
