What the calculator does

The calculator converts power into current, checks breaker utilization, estimates voltage drop from conductor resistance, and recommends the next practical breaker size based on the configured safety margin and continuous-load assumption.

Single phase: A = W ÷ (V × PF)

Three phase: A = W ÷ (√3 × V × PF)

Why does power factor matter?

Power factor affects current draw. Two loads with the same wattage can require different current depending on power factor.

Why check voltage drop?

Long cable runs and high current can create excessive voltage drop even when breaker utilization looks acceptable.
