Every IEEE-registered MAC address begins with a 24-bit Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) assigned to the hardware manufacturer. This tool normalises the entered address and compares the first three bytes against a bundled OUI table to return the registered vendor name.

FAQ
An Organizationally Unique Identifier is the first 24 bits (three bytes) of a MAC address, assigned by the IEEE to hardware manufacturers. It uniquely identifies the company that produced the network interface.
This tool bundles a curated OUI table covering the most common manufacturers. Some OUIs — especially recently assigned ones, private ranges or virtualisation vendors — may not be included. Check the IEEE OUI registry for the full database.
Bit 1 of the first byte indicates whether the address was assigned by the manufacturer (globally administered) or manually set/randomised by software (locally administered). Many modern operating systems randomise MAC addresses for privacy.
Bit 0 of the first byte marks the address as multicast (1) or unicast (0). Multicast MACs are used to deliver frames to a group of devices simultaneously — for example, IGMP or spanning tree protocol traffic.
